みなさん、こんにちは。コンサルティング事業部 ネットワーク太郎です。
今回もネットワークエンジニアが経験するであろう、
英単語をベースに記載させていただきます。

【よく使う単語＆フレーズ： Useful words and phrases】

monitor >>> 監視する
Aさん : Please start to monitor after releasing a patch.
Bさん : Sure.
※surveillance(監視する)という単語もありますが、
　「surveillance sysytem」といった形で使用されることが多いです。
　operation(運用)の観点では、monitorを使用します。

connect >>> 接続する
Aさん : Did you connect a cable on interface 1/1?
Bさん : Yes, I did.

approach >>> 取りかかる
Aさん : How can you approach to fix an issue?
Bさん : At first I can check all releavant evidences.

in the meantime >>> その間に
Aさん : We should collect logs from those new routers.
Bさん : In the meantime, we need to prepare old ones for restoring.

criteria >>> 基準、標準
Aさん : Could you explain the exit criteria?
Bさん : Certainly.

implement >>> 実装する
Aさん : Could you explain the implementation plan on this weekend?
Bさん : Sure.

review >>> 復習、見直し、
Aさん : Have you reviewed new router configuration?
Bさん : We will review at operation meeting on today.
※reviewの代わりにcheckも使用できます。

rap up >>> 纏める
Aさん : Can you rap up today’s meeting?
Bさん : Sure.

roll out >>> 運用を始める
Ex1 : The new system have rolled out since last Monday.
Ex2 : Cisco will roll out new products this week.

recertify >>> 再認証する
Aさん : When can you finish to recertify user’s ID and PW?
Bさん : Within today.

【海外との作業時に気を付けるポイント】

ネットワーク回線を接続する際には、電話或いはZoomやSkypeを
海外と繋ぎっぱなしで作業することがほとんどです。
自社のマシン室やデータセンタのフロア貸し切りであれば
大きな声で話しながら作業ができますが、そんな恵まれた環境で
作業できるのは「rare case」かと思います。
ZoomやSkypeを繋ぎっぱなしにし、「chat」でやり取りし、
問題が発生したら「share screen」で助け合うのがBestです。
海外のoperatorがIndiaだったりすと、電話だとstrong accentで
作業自体がlabyrinthになってしまうので気をつけましょう。
